about MiddleWeb

Middle Grades Listserv Conversations

For more than six years, MiddleWeb sponsored several ongoing conversations among middle grades educators and other folks interested in the education of young adolescents. After nurturing these chat groups into full-fledged virtual professional communities, we've found them new homes!

[LITERACYWORKSHOP] — This MiddleWeb spin-off group offers an in-depth exploration of Writing and Reading Workshop and issues related to struggling adolescent readers. Formerly the MiddleWeb "MWProjects" listserv, Literacy Workshop now has its own website and sign-up area. Find out more about this lively listserv, which targets teachers in grades 4-8, at the Literacy Workshop website.

[MIDDLETALK] — This general discussion of "all things middle school" began as a MiddleWeb chat group in 1999 and blossomed into a truly vibrant online professional community of more than 700 members. In March 2006, the MiddleWeb listserv was adopted by the National Middle School Association, with a new name – MIDDLETALK. Individuals interested in participating in the daily MiddleTalk discussions must first join NMSA. If you're looking for professional friends eager to chat about teaching and learning in the middle grades, join NMSA today! Be sure to ask about MiddleTalk participation when you call to join.

Our Archive of Listserv Conversations – During the years when MiddleWeb sponsored the daily MWLIST discussions, we captured many of the best conversations and archived them on our website. You can browse through them at this page!
